Christmas Light Bokeh

We finally got around to shopping for a Christmas tree. This is our very first real tree! YAY! The smell reminds me of my childhood. After the kiddos fell asleep I had to test out what kind of bokeh I could get from the lights. I shot all the photos at 1/100th in manual focus, or should I say out of focus because I didn't focus my camera at all. Hmmm. I think it's time for bed.

Rock the Shot ~ Family Challenge

A few months ago I had the opportunity to photograph and absolutely wonder family. This was my very first session with 'strangers' and I was quite anxious to meet them. We scheduled the session at the UW Arboretum just at sunset. It was a beautiful autumn day although the weather was a bit chilly. Upon meeting we decided to take a few less traditionally posed family shots. Here is my favorite of the session.
I thought it would fit in well with this months photo challenge over at Rock the Shot.

Personal ~ Halloween

Here are a few photos from the UW Arboretum in Madison WI. My siser in law and I started the day festive filled day by snapping some backlit photos of our boys in their costumes.

Sweet Baby G is Four Months Old!

A month or two ago I was contacted by an individual interested in having some photos taken of her four month old. She had found me through my other page on facebook, Madtown Topper and liked my photography style. When I received her email, I was a little leery because this would be the first time I have photographed a family whom I have no ties to. I gave her a disclaimer and she was still down for some photos. I was super excited!

Our session was on a Saturday at 4pm. Mom had told me that she loved backlit photos so we our timing worked out perfect. Little G was awesome the whole time. She is the most adorable black haired blue eyes roll'ie' baby. Here are some of my favorite shots from our session.

Simple Things

I speak the word 'Simple' and think about how life was intented to be and how far from simple it actually is. It makes me feel sad. It makes me feel powerless. I hate that food labels have to say 'Made with REAL cheese'. It's pathetic to think these food companies are doing US a FAVOR by putting real cheese in what we eat. I hate not knowing what really is being consumed by my children when drinking juice, eating a nonorganic apple, ect... It just seems too logical, so simple to NOT put all this crap into our bodies. I know you're probably thinking that we all choose what we eat, but for some it really isn't simple. Not to sound like a complainer, but I have Oral Allergy Syndrome, so I am forced to cook all fruits and veggies before consumption. I so badly just want to pick fruit from the earth and sink my teeth into it, but I can't. I can't do it without the fear of my throat closing, the thought of gasping for air as my insides burn from intense itching. I have hope though. Hope that pollen desensitizing will be the end of my suffereing. But in the inthe meantime, I can't help but feel guilty for setting such a poor example to my kiddos when it comes to choosing whats best for your body - ok, I've had my moment. Moving on.

Simple. Simple to me is my kids, their innocence, emotion. A soft fleece blanket. Birds singing. The sound of waves crashing along the shore and the breeze softly kissing my face. These are the things that make me happy. Simple things.

Here is a photo of my baby, Lias. He is 18 months old and going through a phase. A period of time where he is refusing to sleep in his crib. He just plays all day until he is too tired to play and just drops to the floor and closes his eyes. He is such a sweet boy and my love for him makes my heart ache.

I was inspired to write this post by Rebecca Cooper from Simple As That. I love her list of Simple Things to take photos of every season. If you have not checked out her blog, I highly recommend it!!

Lisha and Jesse get Married! Part One - Details

Alisha and I have been friends since middle school. She was the goofy girl that made everyone laugh and everyone loved. And I do believe not much has changed in fifteen years! Lisha contacted me last November to take a few engagement photos where I had the pleasure to meet Jesse. Jesse was such an easy going guy and the two make the perfect pair. They tied the knot two weeks ago and I must say they were quite brave for hiring me, an amateur photographer. The day was bright, sunny and beautiful - also challenging to shoot it for the inexperienced. I did my best and am happy with the shots I captured. Congrats you two!
